Anthropic puts $100 million into a Claude Frontier Academy to train 10,000 "Frontier Deployed Engineers" by the end of 2027
A multi-day in-person course, a graded practical, then a 12-week residency leading a real Claude deployment at the engineer's own employer. First cohorts from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk. Entry is by nomination; the page does not say what it costs a participant.

Anthropic announced Claude Frontier Academy on 2 October: a training programme "backed by a $100 million commitment" that aims to produce 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. The company's framing is that enterprise AI is now bottlenecked on people rather than models - "a small group of deeply skilled people drives an outsized share of what AI delivers" inside its customers - and it calls the Academy "the first of its kind from an AI company".
How the residency works
The first programme, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, is built on what Anthropic calls the medical model: learn from practitioners, train on real cases, be assessed before practising alone. Engineers start with a multi-day in-person course run by Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors, working through a simulated enterprise deployment "from the right use case through security review to handover", and sit a graded practical on a new scenario. Those who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge and move into a 12-week residency in which they lead a real Claude use case at their own organisation, supported by Anthropic engineers. A second assessment at the end earns the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge; Anthropic expects the first in early 2027.
The course is for hands-on software engineers with a record of building with large language models; prior experience building agents is not required. Organisations nominate their engineers, "each arriving with a named Claude project to lead when they return". Cohorts are running now in San Francisco, New York and London, and eligibility is checked through an Anthropic account team or partner manager.
Who is in the first cohorts
Anthropic names Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk "and others". Steve Corfield, its global head of business development and partnerships: "No AI company has invested in developing that talent inside its customers and partners at this depth."
The Academy sits on top of the Claude Partner Network, where Anthropic says professionals at 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications and nearly 4,000 people have completed Basecamp, the onboarding curriculum its own applied-AI teams receive.
What the page does not say: what a participating organisation pays, if anything; how the $100 million is spent; or how many engineers are in the cohorts running now. All figures are Anthropic's own.
